I found myself having to move about 4 hours away from my family to follow a job when my old facility closed it’s doors. I am online every day, plus I use the computer for many other things, as most of us do anymore. I didn’t want to take my desktop with me both because I was traveling light, and because I didn’t want to take away my wife’s access to a computer and the internet. So I started looking at laptops. This is hardly the fastest one out there, but it does everything I need it to do. The wireless and wired internet access have both worked beautifully. It has a good size hard drive (although I also purchased a terabite portable drive to transfer pictures, music and such from the desktop). The touchpad works well enough, I just don’t really like touchpads so I got a wireless mouse. The webcam works great, and very soon I will be purchasing one for the desktop back home for some video chats. The main thing I needed that was difficult to find on other laptops in my price range was a DVD burner drive. The thing about this laptop that has most surprised me has been the great keyboard. I have used laptops owned by other people, and the keyboards are usualy not great. This keyboard is full-sized, and the keys actually depress and click back up in a manner that is very familiar and comfortable to anyone who has used a regular, desktop-style keyboard. I am not a hardcore gamer (not anymore anyway) but the few games I play regularly have all worked very well on this machine, and the DVD playback has also been very good!

The ACER is too smart for me. The touch pad is so sensitive and sophisticated that if I have 2 fingers any near it it does things I don’t want it to do such as make the screen font larger or smaller, page up or down at jet speed, make online game plays without intending to (I lose a lot)… and the up and down arrows don’t work unless you tap them at just the exact angle which means you may have to tap them several times over… and over… and over. The apps are okay but I can’t seem to find any explanation in the enclosed literature for how the mystery keys and buttons on the keyboard function, so I’ve had to find out by trial. I still feel there are many capabilities I’m missing out on because I can’t find instructions anywhere, not even in the ACER’s welcome dialog. It is fast. It is sleek and clear. I connected immediately to my wireless network. Not happy with the buttons which are flat so I have to watch my typing. I am happier with my Gateway laptop- even tho it’s running Vista- at least it has a desktop email app. The buttons are raised, the keyboard easy to understand/logical, but complete with all the ports/buttons I need. It is also fast and dependable, much more user friendly.

I’ve owned this laptop for about a month now, and it’s been a fantastic month with it! I own an Acer Aspire One Netbook for school, so when the time came for me to trade in my three year old Durabook laptop for something new, I immediately looked for Acer. Other than the phenomenal price that Amazon offered, it had more features than I ever dreamed I could find in a laptop on a College Student’s budget.

The wide HD screen is crystal clear with beautiful graphic properties. I’ve never seen pictures or videos look better on a laptop screen.

It runs extremely fast, which I knew it would from the beginning but even now after I’m using about 150GB of space it runs just as fast as it did before I installed anything on it.

I love, LOVE the webcam as well, it syncs with my movements very well and I don’t need to put all the lights on in my room for the other person to see me. The microphone is pretty decent and I don’t need to turn down the TV to be heard clearly.

The touchpad took some getting used to, but now I can’t imagine not using it. It makes getting things accomplished much more simpler and quicker.

To sum it up, I would expect to pay twice for a laptop that was as well, awesome as this one. If I had to name a con to it, it was a big pain in the butt uninstalling a lot of the pre-installed programs, but that’s about it. GREAT BUY!

this laptop is fast, has all programs i need plus more…extremely fast shipping from amazon. light weight, just an excellent laptop….I highly recommend. it does take some getting use to because of the numbers pad to the right of the key board but once you shift your hands over correctly on the board it seems alright…. go get it!
