Pre-pregnancy, I was a size 12, I also was gaining weight a little on the fast side (I didn’t know I would be so STARVING all the time!). I wasn’t sure whether to order a size 2 or 3, but was worried about being hot, so went with the size 3. The sizing has felt very comfortable to me, not too loose, and not too snug. I have been very pleased with the product, I’ve had it about 7 weeks now, holding up to washings and letting me wear my pre-pregnancy clothes for longer. I am 20 weeks now and still utilizing the belly bands and (previously loose fitting)regular shirts and pants. I expect in the next few weeks to have to commit to maternity clothes, but I plan on wearing these after delivery when I expect to be back in the loose fitting clothes and out of maternity clothes. I think the cloth of the bands is comfortable, and for the two pack, well worth it.
These bands have saved my life and my pocket book! They aren’t always the most comfortable thing to wear, but I get by on the fact that I don’t have to replace my entire wardrobe with maternity clothing. I live in Arizona and being pregnant during the months we are heading into Summer is definitely not a time you want to add layers of clothing. However, the material for these bands are extremely breathable and that makes a difference when it’s warm/hot with high humidity. I love that with these bands, I can wear my normal clothing and be just fine. I am not sure about whether they are effective in covering up the unbuttoned button, but nobody has noticed anything. So, I would say that they work magnificently well. These are well worth the money and I definitely recommend them to EVERYONE!
I’m 5ft 4in tall and 129 lbs at 16 weeks pregnant. My “prepregnancy” pant size ranged from a 2-4. The size guide for these belly bands said I needed the smallest size (size 1). I ordered one in white and one in black. First of all it was almost long enough to be a tube top while going halfway down my rear end. So I don’t know if you’re supposed to roll them down or what because either way it gives weird lines under clothing. Second the fabric is very thin and doesn’t provide much support. It stretches out and slides down. There isn’t any silicone or anything to help grab onto your unbuttoned pants so they don’t slip out and fall down. I don’t know if the size guide is wrong and these are meant for bigger women or they are just a poorly made product but I definitely don’t reccomend them to women smaller than a size 4 or with short torsos. Even when my belly grows more I know these still won’t work to do what they advertise because my hips (where I need the band to be tight enough to keep my pants up) won’t grow like my belly. I’m a curvy girl too so don’t think it’s because I have small hips.
Overall the quality and comfort were good. However, I think this product (and similar ones) work only for those women who have gained a belly and not much else. I, on the other hand, have gained weight not only in the belly, but also in the hips/thighs area, so that even with my pants unzipped, they are overall just too tight. So the belly band won’t be able to fix that problem. I ultimately gave up on the belly band and just bought pants a couple sizes up. Still, maybe postpartum the belly band will come in handy. We’ll have to wait and see!
I was two months when I bought a BeBand (by the same maker of the Bella Band) from Target but immediately felt that it was too tight. I was petite 0, sometimes P00, and like to wear clothes that fits but never too tight.
BeBand S/M (for pre-preg pant sizes 0-8) measures about 11.75″W and 11″ from top to bottom.
Baby be Mine size 1 (pre-preg 0-4) measures about 13″W and 16″ from top to bottom.
I returned BeBand and am using Baby be Mine over my unzipped jeans, folded with half of the band underneath the jeans and half out, so the tightest parts (top and bottom edges) are always on my hip and never on the belly. The band holds well and washes well, too. Hopefully I will never need to buy maternity pants but I am willing to upgrade a band size if my belly gets too big.
Another thing I like about Baby be Mine is that it’s 92% cotton and 8% elasthane, while the BeBand is 79% nylon and 21% spandex.
